The Optimiser

The longest streak we have had on AI For You without writing about Open AI is 2 weeks and we are set to break it yet again! But here’s the catch, today’s article isn’t about something new they have developed but about the problems they are encountering. Trust me, there’s more than one!

Co-Founder John Schulman has resigned

John Schulman, one of the co-founders of Open AI has not only resigned but joined the rival firm Anthropic, an AI startup backed by Amazon. There is no clear reason for his resignation except for mentioning John’s desire to be involved in more technical work. While this happened a week ago, at the same time, another co-founder Greg Brockman has also announced that he will be going on a sabbatical. This is a grave trouble for Open AI as it is already grappling with losing key personnel like Ilya Sutskever and Andrej Karpathy from earlier this year.

Elon Musk has revived his lawsuit

The Tesla CEO has brought back the lawsuit that he filed against Open AI and its CEO Sam Altman on the allegations that the firm has drifted to become a for-profit company even though it posed as a non-profit venture to gain funding from Musk. It also claims that Open AI has breached several federal laws. It will be interesting to see if the lawsuit gets pulled back like last time or goes to court for trial.
