Beatles and AI

In partnership with

AI for You has been live for more than 6 months now and we do hope that we’ve been successful in making the world of AI, a little less daunting than it was for you, especially those who do not belong to Gen-Z (even though we do not believe in this!)

Today’s article is a little different from most others we have written- it’s not about a new development in the world of AI. On the contrary, it is a story about how AI brought back something really old back to life. We are talking about the Beatles’ song Now and Then.

No matter how old you are, we are sure you would have heard of the legendary John Lennon of the Beatles band. However, when he passed away several years ago, a number of songs were left incomplete. But recently, the unthinkable has happened. Machine learning technologies have been successfully able to retrieve Lennon’s voice from old demo tapes which allowed the existing band members to release this song.

If you’re interested in how this technology really works, here’s your answer! AI developers have recently mastered the technique of track separation which means separating the sounds emerging from all different vocals and instruments. The idea to do this emerged from the filming process of Get Back, Peter Jackson’s eight-hour Beatles docuseries.

While some fans, have not taken this too well, the incident only reflects the fact that AI is not all about taking over human creations and art. In fact, in situations like these, it carries restorative powers which were previously unimagined.

Want to be even more surprised? Here’s another thing you should know! The song ‘Now and Then’ just got nominated for Grammys 2025 under Record of the Year and Best Rock Performance. So we’d say, head over to your streaming platforms and listen to the song, before it probably wins a Grammy! Also, remember to tell your friends about it, as well as about AI For You :)
