Apple Intelligence: AI Redefined

Every September, there’s hype around the launch of the new iPhone variant and this year it was even more special due to the expected rollout of AI along with the new smartphone. Its safe to say that Apple did not disappoint! So let’s dive straight into what AI features are backed by the newly launched iPhone 16.

On the technical front, the new model is equipped with specialized chips to power the AI features. These features include a long-awaited boost to Siri, the voice assistant application as well as other AI automation in some other routine processes like summarizing information, AI-generated replies, transcribing media files, and customized priority notifications. There is also an all-new ‘Camera button’ to pull out all information available on the web about the images being captured on the phone as well as Image and Emoji generation capabilities.

However, here’s the catch! While iPhone 16 launches on September 20, these updates would only be available starting in December when Apple rolls out the software update for iOS 18. It seems like that company isn’t all prepped yet but does not want to miss out on the profits that its competitors seem to be making with the launch of AI-enabled smartphones.

The company has always been known to do something different. This year, while its features fail to stand out much, Apple has made a difference in its branding. They are retrying to redefine AI as Apple Intelligence to once again establish the strong product differentiation, a feature, that has helped them dominate a large part of the market for several years now. Whether or not they will be able to overcome the slump in their sales is a question that only time will answer!
